Flying is all about aerodynamics. You need air to get a lift and get flying, but too much resistance of air will lower your speed and increase your fuel consumption. So manufacturers would like to find out in a early stage if their new aircraft design shows the right aerodynamics. One of the ways to find out is to conduct wind-tunnel tests with a scale-model.  EREA has extensive experience with comprehensive aerodynamic testing using highly accurate scaled wind tunnel models. The scale models, mostly made of high-grade aluminum alloy, have to meet stringent accuracy requirements. This meant extensive checks have to be conducted with laser scan equipment.

Apart from measuring airworthiness properties of aircraft and helicopters are measured noise measurements, fail tests and measures ground effects during landings can equally be tested in EREA’s wind tunnels.
