NLR-FDF Flow Duct Facility

Description

Simulates turbofan engine intake and exhaust ducts to study the behaviour of sound absorbing materials under grazing flow conditions.

Main technical characteristics

The NLR flow duct facility, NLR-FDF, simulates turbofan engine intake and exhaust ducts to study the behaviour of sound absorbing materials under grazing flow conditions. It comprises two reverberation rooms connected through a flow duct. The volume of each reverberation room is 50 m3, assuring a diffuse sound field at frequencies above 350Hz.
