In 2020, the European New Green Deal set the ambitious goal to achieve climate neutrality in all sectors of its economy, including air transport, by 2050.
MATISSE is a 36-month research project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme.

MATISSE explores smart multifunctional electrical energy storage for hybrid electric aircraft applications. The EU project aims to demonstrate the smart structural battery technology with a multifunctional structure demonstrator capable of power delivery, power management and safety monitoring, to be installed on Pipistrel Velis Electro.
